WALKING WITH DINOSAURS

By thenazz,October 14th, 2007

At the ANJEC Congress on Oct 12th, 2007 the NJ BPU rep's presented us with the Carbon Footprint Reduction Bill, signed by Jon Corzine, which requests all NJ citizens to reduce their "carbon footprint" to 1990 levels by 2020 and even further by 2050.  I suggested that since the theme of the conference was "The Heat Is On' that we utilize the heat beneath our feet---namely Geothermal, which would bring our "carbon footprint" to as near ZERO as you can get!

Since in our "free market economy" we need to make it "profitable" and "affordable" for those on both the producing and receiving ends I suggested that Energy production via geothermal be set up as an Urban or Municipal enterprise, with the initial capital outlay provided by attaching infrastructure costs to the service areas' residents and businesses by attaching it to their mortgages...prorating the charge based on years of residency, and amortizing the cost over the life of the mortgage to provode a "tax break" for "the little guy"  (probably the first of its kind ever) and being able to "sell" your share in the generating unit when you sell your property, and if you stay put, having it attached to your mortgage as you would PITI (E), the "E" for Energy, and ending up with a small "use tax" when paid up to maintain the generating and distribution system.

If anyone on the BPU or any gov't agency actually agreed to this they realize they'd be out of a job because energy production would become a localized activity..and BEST of all...NO FOREIGN FUEL CONNECTION, NO MONOPOLISTIC GENERATING AND DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM, NO PROBABILTY OF MASSIVE POWER GRID FAILURE (No CO2 of course!), you're beginning to get the picture I hope.

We can produce power "on demand" using as much as we need when we need it!  Of course eventually we'd have to pass another Law to reduce our IR footprint to B.C. levels since we'd be running the entropy clock of our dear Earth at a faster rate...but IR may be an easier price to pay than "carbon."
